The makers, the duo Jacques and Lise, are graphic designers, which can be seen in this oblong picture book “Duif” with artistic illustrations, in which the colors are played very atmospherically. In each illustration, over an entire spread, there is one basic color that also acts as a background. The story has a nice structure, where the wish of Basiel is getting bigger until the moment that the pigeon can no longer fulfill it. The illustrator has shown the life course of Basiel very nicely, with the drawing becoming more blurred as he gets older. The course of life is also represented as appearances of the moon, with the moon eventually changing into a feather. A particularly successful picture book from the makers of 'Oskar' (2016).
