A babycare sheepskin is a health sheepskin especially for babies.
These short haired sheepskins are specially tanned so that they can be washed out. Because of the short hair, the fingers and nails will not get caught in the fur.
A sheepskin is air permeable and therefore ventilating. As a result, a sheepskin is wonderfully warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
A babycare sheepskin is also called a health sheepskin. This is because a sheepskin has many advantages. For example, a sheepskin prevents puncture spots. Infants sleeping on a sheepskin are less likely to develop asthma later in life. Research shows that children who spend the first months of their lives on a sheepskin, at age 6, have a 79% lower risk of asthma.
This is because there are probably microbes in sheepskins. Previous studies have already shown that microbes in agricultural environments can protect growing children from asthma.
The exposure to specific bacteria should ensure that the children show less allergic reactions and the airways become less sensitive to children.
For babies it is wonderful to lie on a sheepskin. The sheepskin offers heat when it is cold and when it is too warm the fur absorbs. The fur thus takes the body temperature of your baby. It feels safe & familiar and gives a soothing feeling. The babycare sheepskin has a short shaven coat which makes it even safer.
When your baby sleeps on the stomach, we advise you to put the fur in the box, for example. So that your baby can lie on it when he/she is awake. For babies who sleep on their stomach, up to twelve months, is not recommended to sleep on a soft surface. And Van Buren Bolsward’s sheepskins are wonderfully soft. Washing instructions:
Wash the coat on a wool wash program and let it air dry, not in the sun or on the stove. Stretch the skin every few hours to prevent the leather from becoming hard and stiff. Not in the dryer!
